Finding Wedding Favors For Men A Dilemma?

It would seem that finding wedding favors for men would be fairly straightforward, yet finding a favor that will be at least somewhat appreciated can rapidly become a source of confusion and frustration. A throw-away type of favor, or something on the humorous side probably isn't too difficult to find, but if you want something tasteful a bit of thought may be required.

Whereas women can often be satisfied with something decorative or something that can be worn, wedding favors for men designed to be worn or set on a shelf aren't usually doing to get the use you think they might deserve. Men tend to like things that are on the practical side, something they can use or do something with, not just look at. There are exceptions of course.

While wedding favors for men don't have to be terribly expensive, when you consider that the men involved will most likely be the best man and the groomsmen, the ushers, the fathers of the bride and of the groom, and maybe even the little ring bearer if you have one, you want to get something nice. The fathers may be in their 50's or 60's, the best man and groomsmen in their late teens or 20's, and the ring bearer probably 10 at most, you can't usually get the same favor for everyone. Bottle openers or bottle stoppers with a certain theme would be something all could use, though a bottle stopper might not seem quite appropriate for the ring bearer, nor would anything with a poker theme. Come to think of it the choice could be much easier if you don't have a ring bearer, but trust the best man and bridesmaid to take care of the rings.

Cuff links, especially monogrammed cuff link have traditionally been a great idea for a man's wedding favor, but not everyone wears French cuffs these days, in fact few seem to. Monogrammed money clips, key chains, or even gold towels will probably be more practical and appreciated as wedding favors for men.

An attractive wine stopper will usually be appreciated. Depending upon the recipient the theme can be anywhere from dignified and conservative to downright goofy. Even those who don't drink wine may keep a bottle for guests. Leatherman tools or Swiss Army knives are another thought. Just about everyone could use either of these. You don't have to get the most expensive models to get something quite practical. Men like gadgets, and practical gadgets will be especially welcome.

Earlier on throw-away favors were more or less dismissed as a good idea. An exception might be a throw-away camera. The recipients could create their own special souvenirs, though if alcohol is involved many of the photos may be of photos the men taking photos of one another. Still, they're having fun.

Many things electronic are potential \wedding favors for men - digital clocks, calculators, even cell phones. Many useful electronic gadgets are quite inexpensive, though no one is saying you can't give a favor that's a little on the expensive side. After all, it's a special event. The more you think about it, the more possibilities come into view. There are countless accessories, gadgets, and other items with a sports theme.

A half dozen golf balls monogrammed with the date, or a single one with the name of the bride and groom is an idea, It will probably sit on a shelf for a year, spend another year in the golf bag, and the rest of eternity at the bottom of a lake.  Then, there are those wedding favors for men that fall into the category of the socially unacceptable. But that's the subject of another article.
